MMA Big Show: Secret Santa Drive - 2 Weeks To Give

We have until December 19th to gather donations to help families in need of the Christmas Spirit!

When I was 2 months old my mother left my father. She moved me away from Stockton, CA to Canton, OH to raise me by herself. Struggling as a single mother of one very difficult son to raise, my mother pinched pennies and learned how to make a dollar last a week. Growing up I never had much. I'd get into fights with other kids because I didn't have the Nike shoes everyone else had. My mother and grandmother had to pool their money together to get me a pair of Reeboks just so that I wouldn't get into so much trouble. One Christmas I will never forget, times were very difficult. I remember my mother crying a lot as we got closer to Christmas. I couldn't have been older than 8 or 9 years old. I remember how difficult it was for my mother not to be able to afford much of anything for me for Christmas. It was difficult to buy clothes for such a quickly growing son who would one day become 7ft tall. It was a very rough time.

As luck would have it, my mother was setup with a Secret Santa. This was a program where a more well off family would secretly adopt a family in need to give them the things they needed to have a Merry Christmas. I remember getting a lot of clothes. New clothes, that fit me! I remember the tears fall from my mothers face knowing that even though she wasn't able to do all of these things for me herself, she couldn't have been happier that I had so many smiles on my face. It was something I will never forget as long as I live. As emotional as it is to tell this story, I'm sharing it with all of you because this year I want to return the favor. Not just with one family, but with multiple families. The MMA Big Show has been here for 3 years and all of you fighters, fans and staff are one giant family. We laugh together, drink together and enjoy amazing events together. Together, we can change the lives of several families this Christmas by giving back a piece of something many of us may take for granted today.

So, between now and December 19th, I ask all of you to make a donation to the MMA Big Show Secret Santa fund where on December 20th, Lacy and I on behalf of all of you will change Christmas for several families, together. We will take photos of everything we purchase and post them here on this site as well as a brief bio of the families your donations helped (witholding names).

One family in particular is a single mother of 2 that has been brought to my attention. This woman who normally worked full time has had her hours cut down to under 20 hours a week. To make sure her kids eat, she survives 20 cent cans of peaches from Big Lots that she eats for lunch at work. This woman is but one family I plan to touch with the Christmas spirit this year and with your help, we can touch many more.
